Interesting night. I thought it was going to happen. Light contractions. Early symptoms of labor, but my little girl stayed put.
In preparation I got the cameras ready and made my wife pack a bag.
37 week appointment tomorrow... Should have more to report.
21 days to go. Is anyone out there?

Early Signs of Labor?
September 21, 2009
It was a long weekend. I kept wondering if she was going to come this past weekend. I think my wife is ready to be finished.
We painted the nursery pink. I mean it is pink. It is a pale pink, but for a guy who has never had anything pink, this room is pink.
We installed the car seats. It is kinda funny that there is a car seat in the car, yet there is no baby. I am just ready. I can't believe my daughter is really coming.
22 days to go until the due date, but I feel like she may make a grand entrance before then. Knowing my luck these days, she will hang in the uterus until 41 weeks.
37 week check up is on Wednesday.
Is anyone reading this? If so let me know!

She is not here yet!
September 18, 2009
It is a Friday morning and all is status quo. The painter is at the house painting the nursery. A pink room. I hope the buyer of my house has aspirations of having a girl.
Big dilema of the day, whether or not to store the cord blood. If you have any input, please let me know.

She is dialated 1 to 2 centimeters
September 17, 2009
So yesterday I decided to start the blog. I figured four weeks to go and nothing major could happen. Well boy was I wrong... At this point, my wife will go to the OB every week until the baby comes. Exciting stuff. I figured just routine check-ups to see that the baby is ok. Wrong again. The Doctor checked to see if the cervix is dialated, and it is one to two centimeters. He also checked to see if the head was in position, and it is in the right position.
Ok so what does this mean... It means she is getting ready to come. The question is when is she coming. The Doctor gave a vague answer, she could come next week or my wife could go full term. Not sure what to expect, but I really better get things in order in my house. Maybe it is time I do all the things I said I was going to do before the baby comes.
So I am off to get those things done... Tonight's task make sure that the baby's room is compeltely clean. Tomorrow is another day...

I am going to be a Dad - What do I do know?
Wednesday - September 16, 2009
I am sitting at my desk staring at an ultrasound picture of my child. I wonder how I got to this point. Two years ago I did 30 shots of tequila on my 30th birthday and now I am going to responsible for another life. I still find it hard to believe that I can take care of myself. I mean I work and I am able to pay my bills. I know how to do the laundry if the maid is sick. I can take care of the dog, i.e. I can take him out and fill his food and water bowls when they are empty. However, if I am sick or need help with something I always ask my wife to help me.
I mean I am truly blessed to have a wonderful wife. She is not only beautiful on the outside, but an amazing person on the inside. I mean that, and she did not pay me to write that... I swear.
When I look around at my friends and see where I am in my life, having a baby seemed the next great step. I figured that I would get to have fun trying and it would happen rather quickly. Well two years from the day we really started trying is where we are now. After three rounds of failed in vitro fertilization, we found out on my 32nd birthday that we were going to have a baby.
It was a great birthday present. I still can't believe it to this day that it finally worked. After all that my wife went through I really never thought this amazing thing was going to happen. So now that it has happened what is really going to happen? I have no idea, the only thing that I am expecting is for the best ride of my life.
I am excited to be a father, but really how can the hospital let me take this child home. I have never changed a diaper. I have never given a bottle. I have never burped a baby. I am dead meat.
I will be honest my biggest fear is spit-up... I am affraid of vomit. The thought of it, let alone the smell makes me quiver. I feel that babies puke once a day. I am really in trouble.
So I figured I would share my experience from the final month before the baby is born, through my learning curve as a father.
I hope you enjoy and I hope there is someone out there reading this....Due Date is October 13th, 2009 lets see how it goes.... Wish me luck!
